College of the Canyons officials, in partnership with KHTS AM-1220 and Signal SCV, welcomed job-seekers Wednesday for the first of two job fairs for those seeking employment.

The first Spring 2015 Job & Career Fair was held Wednesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the College of the Canyons, and had employers in attendance such as Logix Credit Union, Inglewood Police Department, and Able Aerospace.
“Employers want to hire and they want to meet people in person,” said Lonnie Davis, who works with Career Services at College of the Canyons. “Most resumes are done online, but it will be great for people to talk to the employers and ask questions.”
There will be two events, which represent a great opportunity for workers to put a face to the name with their potential employers, a COC official said.
The second job fair is expected to take place on Wednesday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College of the Canyons, Canyon Country campus.
The second event will have job opportunities with agencies such as California Highway Patrol, United States Postal Service, Los Angeles County Fire Department and many more.
The job fairs are a free event and they are open to the entire community.

Individuals will get the opportunity to go through workshops such as resume building and interviewing to make themselves more attractive to employers.
There are over 100 employers that are registered for the event and the fair is designed for employers with current paid job opportunities only, to be in attendance.
For employers who cannot attend the fair in person, KHTS AM-1220 will be operating a Virtual Job Fair for the first 20 employers that call the station at 661-298-1220.
