COC Tries Its Hand At Social Networking

COCA new step for the college combines popular internet sites and giveaways.

In celebration of their 40th anniversary College of the Canyons has started the 40 Ways To Change Your Life at COC contest.

The contest starts this week and will run for the next 40 weeks.

“This is our first big effort into social networking and it’s a fun and informative way to get the community involved,” said Bruce Battle, director of advertising and public information.

The contest takes place on the schools Facebook page and involves the release of 40 videos, which are 40 seconds long.  In the videos are the words of the week, and the first person to tweet that word on COC’s Twitter page receives a 1G flashdrive , and will be entered into a drawing for a laptop.

COC offers many benefits to the local community in addition to classes.  The contest is a way for the college to highlight some of those activities and show what COC has to offer, said Battle.

Those who wish to participate in the contest need to have a Facebook and Twitter account, which Battle points out, are free.
