College of the Canyons and Hart District Host College Day

SANTA CLARITA – Nearly fifty colleges and universities will descend on College of the Canyons on Saturday, April 16, for Santa Clarita Valley College Day 2005.  Representatives will be on hand to provide information about their schools and programs to college-bound high school students and their parents.  The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by College of the Canyons and the Wm. S. Hart Union School District, the day
will feature a mall-like area where students can stop and speak with representatives of the schools as well as workshops and presentations providing more in-depth discussions of   admissions procedures, financial aid processes, insights into the UC and CSU systems, and  much more.

“We are thrilled to have College Day this year at College of the Canyons,” said Audrey Green, Associate Dean of Student Services for the College.  “We’ve got the room, and frankly,” said Green, “since many of the students who attend College Day are also considering COC as an academic option, it gives them and their parents an opportunity to get acquainted with our campus.”

For those parents and students interested in finding out more about what College of the Canyons has to offer, several departments will have representatives on hand to answer questions and several buildings on campus will be open for visitation, such as the biology and biotechnology labs, the transfer center and career services.  Students planning to attend COC for summer or fall will have an opportunity to apply and take the assessment tests as well.

Admission to the event is free as is parking in the COC lots.
