College Of The Canyons To Host Inaugural TEDx Seminar

On Thursday, April 18, College of the Canyons will hold its first TEDx seminar, an independently organized event licensed by TED. Technology, Entertainment and Design talks have been educating audiences since the organization was started in 1984.
The TEDxCollegeoftheCanyons seminar will be held on COC’s Valencia campus in Mentry Hall, Rooms 305 and 343, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., focusing on the topic of connectivity and how connected communities can increase global welfare and wellbeing.
TEDxCollegeoftheCanyons is being hosted by the college’s TEDx Club and presented by title sponsor COC Associated Student Government, as well as the Small Business Development Center’s Young Entrepreneurship Program and Logix Federal Credit Union.
The event will follow TED’s well-known format of 18-minute presentations from several speakers, as well as other performances and demonstrations

TEDxCollegeoftheCanyons had only a limited number of seats in the main conference room (305) and is currently sold out, but the college is offering live-stream overflow seating in Mentry Hall Room 343. Those interested in attending the seminars can register for free, here. Participants have been asked to register for only those time slots they know they will attend, as seating is limited to 70 people per slot.
You can also register for a special Logix Lounge Hour from 2 to 3 p.m. in Mentry Hall, Room 309. During the Lounge Hour all conference presenters will be on hand to meet and talk with conference attendees.
9 a.m. — Welcome and Introductions
9:20 to 11:30 a.m. — Session #1 (four talks, two videos and Q&A)
11:30 a.m. to noon — Break
Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Session #2 (three talks, one video and Q&A)
2 to 3 p.m. — Logix Lounge Hour
