The latest and most detailed version of a future mural that will adorn the Golden Valley bridge underpass has been revealed. The mural was designed by the Special Children’s Art Foundation (SCAF), and commissioned by the city of Santa Clarita.

The new revision includes all of the colors, which provide the most accurate preview of the artwork to date.

SCAF uses local students to paint all of their murals. The work is done using a combination of special needs students and the main school population. Together, the main student population builds bonds with the special needs students, who in turn benefit from the chance to participate in the mural process.

For this project, multiple schools in Santa Clarita will help paint a portion of the mural. The participating schools will be:

Saugus School District:
Plum Canyon Elementary School – March 15-16, 2010
Cedar Creek Elementary School – March 17-18, 2010

Sulphur Springs School District:
Canyon Springs Elementary School – March 22-25, 2010

William S. Hart School District:
Golden Valley High School – March 29- April 2, 2010

Once the painting sessions are complete, the mural will be finalized and placed on the Golden Valley bridge underpass at Soledad Canyon Rd. The piece is composed of three sections.
