College of the Canyons will host a night of unscripted laughter and excitement as the student improv troupe Comedians of the Canyons presents the second in a series of free on-campus improv comedy shows.
Comprised entirely of student performers enrolled in the college’s advanced improvisational performance theatre class, the Comedians of the Canyons next improv show will take place at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, in Pico Canyon Hall, Room 202, located on the college’s Valencia campus.
“Each scene is original material made up on the spot from audience suggestions,” said Allan Trautman, COC instructor and host of the show. “I’ve been throwing them a lot of advanced scene work during class sessions and the students have really risen to the occasion, so this should be another great show.”

The last Comedians of the Canyons show held in early October was a huge success, with students performing to a packed house of comedy and improv enthusiasts. Scenarios that were performed for the audience that night included: a local news broadcast about cricket fights; what really goes on at the other end of the customer support line at Play-Doh; and dealing with layoffs at a Canadian syrup factory.
“Our last show was packed with a very enthusiastic crowd, and we expect this next performance to be standing-room-only, so arrive early,” Trautman said. “The people who come to this show are in for a unique treat.”
All Comedians of the Canyons performances are free and open to the public. The third installment in the Comedians of the Canyons series will take place at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4.
