With several Santa Clarita Commissioners’ terms expiring at the end of July, their fates were discussed at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.
[view:node_ad=5]Commissions are made up of 5 members, each appointed by a respective City Council member. The commissions look at specific issues, such as development planning, parks and recreation, or Newhall redevelopment.
While they do not have any direct ruling power, they do serve as an influential, recommending body to the Council.
Several commission members are facing expiring terms, and they can either be re-appointed or replaced. Also, vacancies were created by Calvin Hedman, who will be resigning from the Financial Accountability and Audit Panel, and Laurie Ender, who cannot continue her role as a Parks Commissioner since she has been elected to the City Council.
The Council voted Tuesday night to approve the appointment process and those selections will be made prior to July 31st.
