Community Center Hosts USA Amateur Boxing Show

The Santa Clarita Community Center is proud to present the USA Amateur Boxing Show, featuring boxers from the City of Santa Clarita Boxing Program!

The boxing show will be held on Sunday April 10, 2005 and begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Center which is located at 24406 San Fernando Road, in Newhall.

Amateur boxers from around the state will join local boxers to compete for the title of champion. Radio station Hot 92 Jams will also be present at the show to give out prizes.

Parking for the event is available at the Jan Heidt Metrolink Station on Railroad Avenue, adjacent to the Community Center. No parking is available at the Center. Admission to the show is $5, and includes a raffle ticket to win prizes graciously donated by Wal-Mart. Both a television and a DVD player will be raffled off!

Started in 1994, the free Santa Clarita Boxing Program is currently offered Monday through Friday from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the Community Center. Supervised by experienced trainers, youth ages 10 and up can learn basic boxing skills and work up a sweat while they build self-esteem.

“The Boxing Program itself provides the kids with something positive to do after school,” said Hope Horner, Community Center supervisor. “We are so excited to host the USA Amateur Boxing Show because it gives us the opportunity to showcase all the hard work and talent in a public setting.”
