The City of Santa Clarita along with the Community Garden Council, are proud to announce the grand opening dedication celebration for Santa Clarita’s first community garden project slated for 5 p.m. Monday, May 9.
The community garden project is located at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, enabling residents to enjoy their own fresh, pesticide and preservative free vegetables, harvested from their own plots. There are 80 plots, and already, all have been filled by enthusiastic gardeners.

There are also a few plots raised above ground, specifically for wheelchair-bound residents who are participating in the project. Beginning gardeners as well as experienced gardeners make up the many gardeners at the Community Garden project.
“The Community Garden project is a great way for residents to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables and to further their gardening skills with friends and neighbors,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean.
The Community Garden Management committee is actively seeking funds and materials to advance the project. The Committee is selling commemorative bricks that will line the garden area and help raise money for materials.
Donations of any size are welcome, and larger donations include a permanent plaque recognizing the donor. For more information about donating or sponsorship, please contact Diane Benjamin via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at: 661 250-8345.
The dedication event on May 9 is free and open to the public. The gardeners will be on hand and will provide refreshments to guests.
