The 2018 Quilt Show is the first show presented by the Santa Clarita Valley Quilt Guild in seven years, according to Kristeen Dolan, Chairwoman for the show.

“We’re displaying 80 plus quilts, and some are very large bed quilts, some are very small art quilts,” Dolan said. “But we also have things that are not quilts, like jackets and tuffets. We also have vignettes of antique sewing machines, ironing boards, irons, and very interesting historic things.”

As well as displaying a variety of quilts, the show features many vendors with unique items for sale, as well as a silent auction and a food truck.

“We have a number of vendors out in the backyard under the trees,” Dolan said. “It’s absolutely beautiful. We have lots to buy and lots to see.”

The Santa Clarita Valley Quilt Guild is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote the appreciation and knowledge of quilts and quilt making through lectures, workshops, and friendly gatherings.

The guild collaborates with many charities, including providing hundreds of quilts to veterans who receive a home from the group Habitats for Humanity, according to Dolan.

The Santa Clarita Valley Quilt Guild meets on the second Thursday of every month at the Santa Clarita United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m.

“Come and see what we do, and maybe you can have fun and join us,” said Denise Rifialto, president of the Santa Clarita Valley Quilt Guild.

The 2018 Quilt Show takes place at William S. Hart Park, located at 24151 Newhall Avenue, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for one day, and $15 for both. Free parking is available at Hart Park, as well as the community center across the street.
