This is the second weekend in a row that the DMV will be open. Approximately 11,000 Californians took advantage of Saturday hours on June 16, according to DMV officials.

In July, the DMV is set to expand to 43 field offices opening on the first and third Saturday of each month. Appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance using the DMV’s website or calling 1-800-777-0133.

Customers applying for a REAL ID driver license or identification card should visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov to make sure they have the required documents to apply for the federal compliant cards. Individuals who choose to apply for a REAL ID must visit a DMV field office, according to officials.

Individuals can avoid making a trip to a field office by using DMV’s online services here. Online services allow customers to renew their driver license and ID card, pay a registration suspension fee, file a notice of transfer and release of liability, order personalized license plates, add or remove an affidavit of non-use from a vehicle on record, request a driver or vehicle record, and much more, according to officials.

Customers can easily and quickly renew their vehicle registration by using a DMV Now Self-Service Terminal, which prints a new registration card and license plate tag on the spot. The kiosk is available in 60 field offices, 39 grocery stores and at the University of California, Irvine.

AAA offices offer its members registration renewal services, and other Registration Service Business Partners can also process vehicle registration renewals and other vehicle registration related transactions for a fee.
