Box City 2018, an annual fundraiser to benefit Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley, is set to be sponsored by Williams Homes for the fourth year in a row. The event is dedicated to supporting local homeless children.

Lance Williams, president and CEO of Williams Homes, has been a long-time supporter of Family Promise and is dedicated to the Family Promise mission that no child should be homeless, according to event officials.

There are over 700 homeless students living in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to numbers reported by the U.S. Department of Education.

The event, now in its 9th year, is both a fundraiser and an opportunity to raise awareness about family homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley. Box City is the nonprofit’s signature event and is slated to be held this year on Sept. 29 at Valencia Heritage Park.

Participants in Box City register online in advance and bring cardboard boxes to the park to build “homes” to sleep in overnight. There are activities and music throughout the day and a “sack dinner” is provided.

Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley Board President Laurie Ender was thrilled to welcome Williams Homes back to Box City this year.

“Lance and the entire Williams Homes family have been champions for Family Promise over the years,” Ender said. “Their support and the support of our business community makes it possible for us to assist homeless families and help them get back on their feet again.”

The nonprofit organization has released a variety of sponsorship opportunities for Box City 2018, ranging from the Platinum Sponsorship level at $5,000 through Bronze Star Sponsorship at $500.
