With the temperatures forecasted to be over 100 degrees Monday through Friday, Bridge to Home is set to open their shelter facility during the afternoons to provide a cool place for those needing to escape the heat.
The shelter, located at 23031 Drayton Street, will be open Tuesday, July 24 through Friday, July 27, from noon until 8:30 p.m. each day. The regular dinner service, Feeding It Forward, is still to be served on its usual Tuesday to Friday evenings.
Volunteers are needed to assist, and donations of water, ice and snacks will be gratefully accepted, according to Bridget to Home officials. Community members wishing to volunteer can contact Olga Ruiz by email.
For donations, residents are asked to deliver items to the Bridge to Home shelter at the Drayton Street location after 12 p.m. Monday through Friday, or at the administrative office at 23752 Newhall Avenue before 12 p.m.
