Certified Public Accountants will be conducting an audit workshop with the Castaic Union School District Board of Trustees on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 4:45 p.m., according to officials.

“During the audit they make sure all fiscal procedures are processed correctly and the attendance is taken properly, to name a few,” said Linette Hodson, the chief business official with the Castaic Union School District. “Even though we had a clean report, we still want to have the meeting so that board members can ask questions about the audit.”

School officials stated that there were “no findings” indicated during last months audit, and this workshop serves as a learning opportunity for members of the public and even board members.

“This workshop is open to the public and is an opportunity for both our new and seasoned board members to review the audit with the auditors and learn how to read the information so that it is easily understood,” said Charmin Ortega, executive assistant with the superintendent with the Castaic Union School District.

Each school district has an annual audit to make sure schools are running smoothly and properly, according to officials.

The goal of the Castaic Union School District is to work with the community and to create life-long learners and empowers them to be critical thinkers in a global community.

The audit workshop is set to take place at the Castaic Union School District office located at 28131 Livingston Avenue.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
