The Church on the Way Santa Clarita threw a “fiesta style” block party on Halloween for families in the community.

The free event took place at the Church on the Way parking lot where organizers hosted several food trucks, games, rides, a hay maze and trick or treating.

“This event is a great way for the whole family to come out and celebrate Halloween, without having to trek from house to house,” said Barry McKeever, longtime church member and host of “The Rock” on KHTS.

The fiesta featured performers singing Latin classics and modern day melodies to entertain the attendees.

This was the first “fiesta-themed” block party, with past years featuring a “Candyland” theme, according to McKeever.

Church on the Way first opened their doors in 1926 with their first congregation in Van Nuys. But, the church expanded to Santa Clarita in 2008 to the former movie theatre on Cinema Drive.

“This event has grown throughout the years,” McKeever said. “It has turned into something the whole community looks forward to every year.”
