On April 10, City Council members decided to celebrate and thank volunteers during National Volunteer Week for their dedication and time to support events and programs resulting in cost savings of more than $1.6 million, according to officials.

“Volunteers continue to play an important role in Santa Clarita, assisting with the production and operation of special events, programs, special projects and youth sports in the City,” said the city officials.

That includes cleaning portions of the Santa Clara River during the annual rally event and assisting in preparations for the 25th Annual Cowboy Festival at William S. Hart Park that begins April 21-22.

The City of Santa Clarita supports a number of volunteers that allocate their time to working in community centers, libraries, city offices, open spaces, properties ancd in emergency communications.

Volunteering is great for those that want to make a difference in the city including for families and community groups.

“Volunteers in Santa Clarita have a lasting impact on the quality of life in the city,” said the news release.

Residents are also encouraged to follow the volunteer group on social media here.
