The JAG program works towards increasing public safety, allowing local government to provide a wide variety of actions to prevent and manage crimes, depending on the district’s needs and circumstances, officials said.
The city is eligible to receive $24,647 from the JAG program, and all public comments must be received by Friday, Aug. 31, at 12 p.m.
“JAG funding is important to the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station because it supports ongoing crime prevention programs that have been proven successful in our community,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “The funding will also enable the City and Sheriff’s Department to collaborate on new opportunities for improving safety, our highest priority in Santa Clarita.”
To improve overall crime prevention, the proposed operations and strategies for the 2018 JAG grant application could be used for, but are not limited to: hiring, training, maintaining personnel, equipments and supplies.
These proposed strategies are expected to assist in the growth of the productiveness of the Sheriff’s Department operations, officials said.
