On Friday, April 27, Dr. Vanessa Bailey from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) plans to speak with those in attendance about her new discoveries and line of work at the College of the Canyons 2018 Star Party.

“We are very excited to hear Dr. Bailey speak about this interesting topic,” said Ryan Theule, vice president of the Canyon Country campus. “Our biannual Star Party has become a much-anticipated tradition in our community. We look forward to welcoming new and returning attendees for an educational and memorable night under the stars.”

Bailey’s presentation, called “De-twinkling the Stars to Study Exoplanetary Systems,” will offer attendees a look into exoplanet research and what it can teach about planet Earth.

In addition to the discussion led by Bailey, the 2018 Star Party will also feature interactive displays and activities presented by college clubs and organizations, as well as an opportunity to stargaze through a number of high quality telescopes.

“Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter our portable planetarium for an exciting visual experience,” said Anthony Michaelides, dean at the Canyon Country campus. “Our Star Party has something for family members of all ages to enjoy and discover.”
