COC To Host Deans’ Symposium On Jan. 12

The 2018 California Deans’ Symposium will host deans from different California community colleges to learn about the interplay between guided pathways, Career Technical Education (CTE), and transfer into the workforce.

College of the Canyons is partnering with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) Division of Workforce and Economic Development to sponsor the 2018 Deans’ Symposium: Providing Social and Economic Mobility for California.

The symposium will help participants develop leadership skills to better align workforce needs with statewide Vision for Success goals.

After a keynote presentation by Van Ton-Quinlivan (Vice Chancellor for Workforce and Economic Development) and Laura Hope (Executive Vice Chancellor of Education Services and Support) of CCCCO, attendees will benefit from breakout sessions throughout the day covering a wide range of topics, including: Impact of Noncredit on Skill Builders, Older Adults, and CTE; Mapping Program Outcomes to Industry and Transfer; work-based Learning and Experiential Learning; and using LaunchBoard data to support interactions with regional consortia, K-12 partners, the adult education sector, and the Employment Development Department.

The event is scheduled to run from 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12. at Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, Room 258
