Over 300 pedestrians cross Creekside Road between Valencia Boulevard and Auto Center Drive each day.

Now, officials say that these pedestrians can feel safer as they make their way across the street due to new upgrades to the existing crosswalks located along the stretch, as well as a lowered speed limit in the area.

Raised crosswalks and landscaped safety islands have been added to the center medians, allowing pedestrians the ability to safely stop before completing their trek across the road.

In addition to improving aesthetics, these changes help decrease automobile speeds in the area. The speed limit was also decreased from 35 mph, to a business district speed limit of 25 mph.

The Valencia Auto Center is one of Southern California’s largest auto centers, attracting shoppers from all over California.

On May 22, 2018, the Santa Clarita City Council awarded the construction contract for the crosswalk improvement project and adopted the resolution to establish the 25 mph speed limit for a business district on Creekside Road. This project was funded through a local assessment district which the auto dealerships contribute to.

For questions about this project, please contact Gus Pivetti from the City of Santa Clarita’s Public Works Department at (661) 286-4047 or at by email here.

  2. Now if they can get all the workers to use the sidewalks instead of Jwalking all the time
