Over 300 local performers have come together to put on their version of the five time Tony award winning Broadway musical.

There will be eight shows throughout the span of two weekends starting on Friday, Jan. 26 with the last show on Sunday, Feb. 3.

“The Music Man” is a broadway classic about Harold Hill, an man who cons Iowa townspeople by  selling them band uniforms and equipment while pretending to be a boy’s band organizer and leader. He plans to steal their money and skip town.

The play follows Hill as his plan begins to fall apart and he risks getting caught as he falls in love with the librarian.

The show will take place at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, and is fun for the whole family.

To request tickets for one of the eight shows, visit the website and fill out the ticket request form, or call the office during ESCAPE Theatre’s business hours. All tickets will be picked up at the box office on the scheduled show date.

The ESCAPE Theatre is already planning ahead to their next play this summer, with registration for Oliver opening up on Jan. 30.

The theatre company has been providing the Santa Clarita Valley with broadway level entertainment since it opened its doors in 2002. They produce two or three musicals each year and aim at teaching children to work together and enhance their singing, acting and dancing skills.

Also coming to Santa Clarita is The Canyon Theatre Guilds performances of “The Buddy Holly Story” and “The Snow Queen.”

Tickets are currently on sale for “The Buddy Holly Story” for regular tickets selling at $19 for adults and $17 for juniors, and premium tickets at $21 for adults and $19 for juniors.

There is no premium seating for “The Snow Queen” with adult tickets selling for $17, seniors for $15 and juniors for $8.

Both plays will begin their run at the guild on Saturday, Jan. 27.
