A man was rescued by firefighters Tuesday evening after his car plunged over the side of a cliff just south of Placerita Canyon Road.

Around 5:30 p.m., a motorist drove over a cliff off of Sand Canyon, about a mile and a half south of Placerita Canyon Road, according to an inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“The patient was halfway down the mountain, near mile marker 6.51,” the official said.
After firefighters rappelled down to save the man, he was taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries was not disclosed Wednesday morning.
