The kick off for Magic Mountain’s annual festival, Fright Fest, premiered last Saturday, September 16 and proved to be the beginning of the theme park’s largest Halloween-themed season yet.

Wrought with demonic clowns, creeping ghouls and one particular actress crawling around, dressed as a child, and dragging along a zombie teddy bear, Fright Fest attendees commit themselves to a night of scares and thrills.

“This is our biggest Fright Fest ever with 21 days of operation,” said Pam Buckley, spokeswoman for Six Flags Magic Mountain. “Popularity brought back the Suicide Squad to the DC Universe area and we’re truly excited about seeing those villains once again.”

After a quick dinner at the “6 Feet Under Club”, Magic Mountain’s newest bar and grill located at the back of the park, those in attendance Saturday night were able to witness “The Surge,” or the dramatic event in which all the monsters stampede into the park with their future “victims” looking on.

Following the introduction of the actors and actresses onto the grounds, park visitors were free to roam the haunted park and experience all that Fright Fest 2017 has to offer.

This year the park features seven haunted mazes, with themes ranging from Red’s Revenge, a haunted woods with a Little Red Riding Hood theme; to Willoughby’s Resurrected, a nightmarish manor with a murderous family storyline; to Toyz of Terror, an entirely 3D haunted house that transports attendees into a hellish toy factory, among many other attractions.

Along with the various haunted mazes set up throughout Magic Mountain, Fright Fest attendants can freely explore anyone of the six “Scare Zones” decorated around the park.

If brave enough to try, scare zone sections this year include, among many more, Damned N’ Disguise, an ever-changing monster masquerade; TERRORtory Twisted, a steampunk themed zone of mechanical monsters and menacing mechanics; and Demon’s Door, a dramatic interpretation of the gates of Hell.

Additionally, Fright Fest features live music, comical stage shows, pop-up parties, blackout roller coasters and Ghoulish Grub, a three-course meal served around the spooky ghouls and frightful Halloween environment.

Fright Fest is open for select days from September 16-October 31.
