Race day kicked off at 7 a.m. with the marathon, Half Marathon and 5k run/walk, followed by the Mayor’s Walk at 7:05 a.m. and the Kid K Fun Run at 8 a.m.
KHTS was at the race, near the 1-mile marker, along with local cub scout and boy scout troops, handing out water to runners as they passed.
Here are some shots from the marathon:
All runs began on McBean Parkway, just south of Town Center Drive, and finished on Theater Drive, south of Magic Mountain Parkway at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.
Although a majority of Santa Clarita Marathon events took place on city multi-use trails to reduce the amount of street closures, several major streets, including sections of Magic Mountain Parkway, were closed. But By 3 p.m. all roadways were cleared for traffic again.
