The Santa Clarita Hometown Heroes Military Banner Program will allow the local community to decorate streetlights on major streets throughout the Santa Clarita community in neighborhoods like Canyon Country, Valencia, Saugus and Newhall.
The banners will feature the service member’s picture, name, rank and branch of the military they serve.
“Our goal is that every local hero be recognized,” said Santa Clarita City Councilmember Bob Kellar. “These banners are an excellent way to proudly share the names and faces of the men and women who serve our country and our community.”

I think this is a great idea to honor those brave men and women; however, I think the city should be coming up with the monies to pay for the banners. Most of the families of the honored individuals don’t have the funds to pay for the banners.
