“The Castaic Area Town Council puts on a benefit run every year to benefit the local schools,” said Town Council president Jessica Chambers. “All the proceeds will go there, and any money taken in from the silent auction to pay for the volunteer groups that came out.”

Hundreds of family members came out to support their loved ones as they competed in either the 5k, Half Marathon and a Kids Fun Run.

“It’s a lot of fun to run and be here with my family,” said Sandy Lutz, 9, one of the child participants in the race.

Those in attendance were also treated to music, a pancake breakfast and even a beer garden available to those older participants, as well as the opportunity to visit over 20 vendors who were selling goods from local businesses from across LA County.

And this year not only did every Racer medal and receive a T-shirt, but those that signed their teams up saw $10 of the their registration fee go to either a school or club of their choice.
