UPDATED: Santa Clarita Deputies Are Responding To A Suspected Burglary In Saugus

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspected burglary, which resulted in a standoff situation with a police barricade on Grovepark Drive in Saugus.

Update 5:19 p.m. The suspect was not in the house. Normal activities have resumed in the neighborhood, deputies’ containment is now ending. Officials believe the suspect might have fled in the window between the initial report and deputies’ arrival on scene. The burglary suspect was spotted, but not identified, and was not detained. The suspect was dressed all in black.

4:50 p.m. Deputies are searching the home now, with the assistance of K-9 units. It’s not clear yet whether a suspect is still inside the home

Update 3:11 p.m. — Residents are gathering in Grove Park while deputies in full tactical gear await for more information from Special Enforcement Bureau.

The owners of the home in question are on vacation, and the call was received after the person watching the house saw a male in all black enter the home, according to law enforcement officials.

 

The call came in at 1:04 p.m.

This is a suspected burglary, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

No additional information is available at this time.
