“Today is about all the women who have been repeatedly harassed by Shane and for us to gather together and show our support for each other,” said Dana Schultz, one of Shane’s alleged victims and an administrator on the Facebook page where the initial complaints were posted. “We’re out here saying, ‘Santa Clarita, we have a predator and you need to be aware.’”

Following a recent post in a Santa Clarita Facebook group, hundreds of women came forward and posted their individuals interactions with Shane. Many of the stories allege that Shane has, for a number of years, sent unsolicited explicit images and sexually charged text through direct messages on a number of social media platforms.

Community members and victims of Shane then decided to organize a #MeToo Rally on the same day as the Women’s March in Los Angeles.

“Every few months he sends me a friend request from a new Facebook account, Instagram, Snapchat, and I’ve even seen that he’s viewed my Linkedin profile,” said Shultz. “It’s just constant.”

Some women said Shane had gone so far as to copy images of his victims and use them in an attempt to coerce them into doing something for him.

“It was a mistake I made, but he took the images that I had sent him of myself and put them everywhere online,” said Schultz. “That’s what he does: he tries to find ways to manipulate and blackmail women online.”

At least one person attending in solidarity said Shane was at one point a friend.

“Shane had said some perverted things back when we were teens, but we all dismissed it as being young guys,” said one of Shane’s former friends, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “But I realized a number of years ago the type of monster that he is. I had women from other states message me and ask if I knew who Shane was.”

However, while Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station officials have confirmed that a criminal report has been filed, and that an investigators are currently looking into the allegations, formal charges have yet to be filed against Shane.

“We want to reach out to women and encourage them to call us and make a report,” said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s. “That’s the first thing we need to do. After the criminal reports are in place, then investigators can really start looking into it.”

Anyone wishing to file a report against Shane is encouraged to call the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
