Robert Wayne Mount, 52, has been charged with 65 felony counts, including charges of spousal assault, assault with a deadly weapon and various weapons laws violations.

The suspect pleaded not guilty on Monday after being formally charged on Dec 8, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On Dec. 6, deputies responded to the 25200 block of De Wolfe Road regarding a man with a gun and a domestic disturbance call.

Deputies arrived and contacted two victims, who told them Mount had pointed a handgun at them and threatened them during a domestic incident, according to officials. This allegedly stemmed from an unreported spousal assault from the previous evening.

The victims reported Mount had a number of firearms at the location and was still inside the home.

After hours of Crisis Team Negotiators talking over a loudspeaker, numerous houses on the block being evacuated and Special Enforcement Bureau officers throwing multiple flashbang grenades, officials made contact with the suspect inside the house at approximately 2:06 p.m.

Mount then surrendered without incident. After being taken into custody, deputies issued a warrant to search the home and discovered 144 firearms inside the residence, said Sheriff’s officials.

The suspect told officials on scene that the Newhall barricade situation, which had begun in the early morning and lasted until mid afternoon, was unknown to him, because he was “sleeping,” according to Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Mount is scheduled to return to court Jan. 29, 2018, according to county records.

Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives are investigating the incident alongside investigators assigned to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The bail for Mount has been set at $2.1 million, according to county records.
