Rainbow Glen Drive, from Soledad Canyon Road to Golden Triangle Road, is scheduled to be under construction for resurfacing from 7:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on the night of Monday, October 2 to the early morning of Tuesday, October 3.

A part of the construction, the railroad crossing at the beginning of Rainbow Glen Dr. is to be closed by 7 p.m. that night, and residents have been encouraged to plan alternate routes.

According to a news release that details the various aspects of the repaving, this project is being financed by the $9.5 million spent by the city annually for slurry seal and overlay road preservation projects to improve Santa Clarita roadways and extend their life.

“Without annual rehabilitation of City streets, maintenance would be unmanageable,” said the news release. “Residents’ patience and cooperation during construction is appreciated.”

The Rainbow Glen Drive road repaving project is not the first city beautification and improvement project conducted in recent months.

For instance, in June of this year, officials closed down a portion of Soledad Canyon to install a steel truss pedestrian bridge, connecting the Metrolink station and Villa Metro development.

And in addition to the road paving and pedestrian bridge construction, Santa Clarita officials began construction in early May of this year for the Newhall Ranch Road Bridge expansion project. The multi-million dollar project will widen the bridge over the San Francisquito Creek, providing an additional lane in each direction, a raised median and a protected sidewalk and bike trail, according to a city news release.
