Rent in Santa Clarita increased 1.1 percent from March to April, according to a report released by apartmentlist.com.
“Currently, median rents in Santa Clarita stand at $1,960 for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,520 for a two-bedroom,” reads the report. “This is the second straight month that the city has seen rent increases after a decline in January.”
These rent prices are 6.3 percent higher than rent prices at this time in 2017. Santa Clarita’s year-over-year rent growth is greater than the state average of 2.9 percent, as well as the national average of 2 percent, according to officials.
Santa Clarita is not the only city in Los Angeles County experiencing an increase in rent prices, according to analysts.
“Of the largest 10 cities that we have data for in the Los Angeles metro, nine of them have seen prices rise,” reads the report from apartmentlist.com.
The rise in rent in Santa Clarita has made the city more expensive to live in than other larger cities in the country, including Washington D.C., New York and Seattle, according to officials.
“Renters will generally find more expensive prices in Santa Clarita than most large cities,” reads the report. “For example, Houston has a median 2BR rent of $1,020, where Santa Clarita is nearly two-and-a-half times that price.”

That is Insane ,what the hell do the people doing the renting are thinking. Santa Clarita is a nice place but my god you can’t earn enough money and support a family paying that kind of rent. Every thing else will follow, gas is already going out of site, food ,transportation Etc. They are building a couple more cities in the Santa clarita area and the traffic will be even more insane . you see what the hiways are like now. THIS IS NOT THE SILICON VALLEY.
I like Santa Clarita but rent has become more than a mortgage. I can’t see pay rent for this amount and no equity. This is money going to make the property owners rich. It time for me to go.
Then we have the new gas tax and higher vehicle registration. Who can afford to live here anymore.
