Santa Clarita Artists Association Appoints New Executive Board Members

The Santa Clarita Artists Association appointed new executive members to run the Newhall art club.

The new members were selected on Dec. 18 at the end-of the-year holiday party, according to officials.

The new board members elected were: President Zony Gordon, Vice President Charlotte Mullich, Treasurer Sandy Fisher and recording Secretary Jeanne Iler.

“Our mission is to promote art in the Santa Clarita Valley by Making Visual Art visible. Our community outreach programs help with this endeavor, and are always educational, child friendly and free to the general public,” said Gordon. “We also award scholarships to art students, from high school to college, in Santa Clarita. Our emphasis is to be a support group devoted to the enrichment of members’ experience through the visual arts.”

The Santa Clarita Artists Association, or SCAA, began in 1989 to showcases talent from professional and new artists in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Members of the SCAA are their to help encourage, assist, develop and exchange ideas and techniques on helping artist reach higher levels of achievement.

The third Monday of each month, the SCAA holds a membership meeting with the help of a professional artist at the Valencia Barnes and Noble at 6:30 p.m.

At the end of the meeting, art lovers in attendance have an opportunity to win the art piece demonstrated by the artist or another piece of art that the designer chooses to raffle off.

The meetings are free and open to the public and visitors are welcomed, officials said.

The Valencia Barnes and Noble is located at 23630 Valencia Boulevard.
