Residents can recycle Christmas trees by placing the tree curbside on regular trash collection days, according to a news release.

“Trees over six Ft. must be cut in half when placed on the curb,” Desiree Leiva, a representative for Waste Management said. “If residents miss the deadlines for curbside pickup, or if residents are unable to cut a tree taller than six Ft. into smaller pieces, they can bring their tree to the Waste Management office.”

The trees will be repurposed into compost, mulch or ground cover to help preserve other natural resources and reduce waste, the press release explained.

Any trees that have been sprayed down with adhesives to make the trees appear to have snow covering them must be cut into small pieces and placed into the regular trash cart, according to Waste Management’s website.

“In general, all ornaments, including tinsel, decorations and metal and plastic tree stands, must be removed before the trees can be left at the curb or dropped off at a collection site,” the press release concluded.

The Waste Management office is located at 25772 Springbrook road, Santa Clarita.

  1. Do this cover all of the SCV, even where Burrtec picks up the trash?
    Castaic?

  2. So much for fact checking.
You are better off clicking on the link from 2016.
    Here are the facts:
Los Angeles County Public Works will not pick up your trees. Your residential trash hauler will.
Burrtec for unincorporated Los Angeles County. and Waste Management for the City of Santa Clarita.
There is no Landfill at 25772 Springbrook Road in Santa Clarita – that is the local office for Waste Management.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
