World Mission Society Church of God representatives visited the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station after members of the congregation reported harassment after a viral social media post.

“We looked into the allegations, and have found no evidence of crime,” said Sgt. Tim Vander Leek. “The church members were very up front with their beliefs.”

Vander Leek said members of the church have reported harassment, even going to their Canyon Country location and making comments to people as they enter.

“They are no different than any other church,” said Vander Leek. “Other law enforcement agencies across the country have also looked into the organization, and found no crime.”

World Mission is part of a worldwide system of churches with about 10,000 churches across the globe, according to Deron Smith, one of the deacons for the church.

“Our members have faced harassment since the social media post has been going around,” said Smith. “Even as they enter the building for service.”

Members of the church wanted to “clear-up” the accusations saying they believe in volunteer service and protecting the rights of humanity, he said.

“Since the sex and human trafficking accusations have arisen our church members — especially young adults — have suffered a great deal of persecution and hardships,” said Smith.

In September, College of the Canyons sent an email to all students in an effort to alert the campus community of an incident at the school.

The incident involved a student on the Canyon Country Campus who was approached by two women who asked her to go with them to review Bible verses about “God the Mother,” according to college officials.

“We looked into the incident at COC,” said Vander Leek. “After investigating, there was nothing related to any criminal activity.”

Even though no crime was committed, administrators at College of the Canyons encourage students to report any incident to campus safety anytime they do not feel safe.

The Canyon Country church is active in the community organizing, sock and clothing drives, as well as clean-ups of natural areas.

“We are like any other church,” said Smith. “We invite the community to come by and check us out for themselves.”

  1. Yes thank you social media for this tool to publicly blurt out the first thing that comes to mind and the ability to publicly destroy anyone’s personal life at will for any reason you see fit. It’s just what the world needed.

  2. It’s a cult. They systematically take their members’ money and separate them from their families.

  3. Please define cult and also verify proof of “Taking Money” and “seperating families”. This group and church have validity thru the word of God and open honesty through the UN along with every countries highest authorities and leaders. Please fact check before accusing anything not understood. Then ask, if this is biblical, did the same thing happen to Jesus and his followers?
