Alongside Measure H, which provides $355 million annually towards homeless services in L.A. County, homeless assistance groups hope to expand efforts to help end homelessness in Los Angeles.

Among the hundreds of programs scheduled to be funded indirectly by the HUD grant is Santa Clarita organization, Bridge to Home, which works to provide services to the local homeless population.

Bridge To Home provides support services such as emergency winter shelter, case management, housing navigation and medical and dental clinics. The local organization currently houses 40 men and 20 women, according to Bridge to Home’s Christina Najarro.

Bridge To Home was awarded a total of $560,104 towards providing for the Santa Clarita homeless in 2017, according to a HUD press release.

These funds are provided through their partnerships with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) and Los Angeles Family Housing.

On Tuesday Jan. 23 the City of Santa Clarita will conduct a count of the Santa Clarita homeless.
