Santa Clarita residents are invited to attend the New Heights Panel Discussion: The Nuts and Bolts of Effective Grant Writing, presented by the Santa Clarita City Council and the Santa Clarita Arts Commission, which is set to take place on July 12.

At the panel, two successful grant writers will lend their expertise to experienced and novice grant writers.

The scheduled panelists include chief development officer for the College of the Canyons and Los Angeles Police Department Specialist Reserve Police Officer Murray Wood and Charles Flowers, who serves as deputy director of arts for Los Angeles and will share tips and techniques to help grant writers navigate their way through the field.

The panel is scheduled to take place Wednesday, July 12 from 7-9 p.m. at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.

The open event will teach residents of the Santa Clarita Valley how to effectively write grants.

The panel discussion is open to and highly recommended to arts organizations and nonprofit organizations.

New Heights is presented by the Santa Clarita City Council and the Santa Clarita Arts Commission in an effort to assist artists, performers and art organization representatives by providing them with valuable tools to increase their ability to be successful in their field.

The panel promises to teach grant writers “how to write innovative proposals that are aligned with your goals, illustrate ways to present accurate budget details, and provide you with many other resources (and)… effective ways to match your organization’s need and goals with appropriate funding sources.”

The event is free and no RSVP is required to attend the panel discussion.
