City officials are scheduled to host a community meeting for the Vote Center Placement Project (VCPP) held at the Newhall Community Center on Jan. 6, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Santa Clarita is among the 33 community meetings scheduled to take place across Los Angeles County to discuss potential vote center locations within their neighborhoods, according Los Angeles County officials.

Residents are encouraged to ask questions about vote center locations, as well as provide input.

“The idea is for the community to get together to give feedback on the voting centers and see if they were good or bad for residents,” said Kevin Strauss spokesperson for Santa Clarita. “Also, to see suggestions for better locations for residents.”

In March 2020, L.A. County is scheduled to implement a new voting model utilizing vote centers in compliance with the California Voter’s Choice Act passed in 2016.

Vote centers will offer an 11-day voting period in convenient and accessible locations within the County.

Officials will also allow all voters to visit any site in the County to vote regardless of their residential address, according to the Los Angeles County.

For those who are not able to attend the meeting, additional meeting dates and locations can be found here.
