Visitors are invited to walk the “small lane” and see the preserved historical homes collected and saved to the site from the area from 12-4 p.m. Saturday, according to event organizers.

Scheduled activities for the day include an animal blessing at the Ramona Chapel, a historic home tour, a visit from Santa Claus, children’s crafts, letters to Santa, Mogul Train Christmas card photo opportunity and free cookies.

Families are encouraged to bring their pets in order to receive a special certificate authenticating their animal blessing from the Ramona Chapel. All pets must be kept on a leash or in a carrier and must be under the owner’s control the entire time.

Santa Claus will be hearing Christmas wishes at the Newhall Ranch House from 1-3 p.m., and children can make their own personalized Christmas crafts while they wait.

“The Mogul train is a steam locomotive,” said Barbara Martinelli, board member of the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society. “It makes a good photo opportunity for kids and families because you can stand up in the engineer’s seat, ring the bell and take pictures.”

Many families over the years have taken their Christmas card photos on or around the Mogul train, according to event organizers.

Martinelli recommended attendees visit the Edison House — built in the 1820s to house utility workers who constructed the power grid for the city — and the historical homes tour that showcases the Kingsbury House.

“It is restored and furnished to show what life was like prior to homes having electricity,” said Martinelli.

The tour takes visitors through and around the eight buildings, showing guests a historical representation of what 19th century living looked like, according to event organizers.

The days activities and events are all complimentary and are provided by the SCV Historical Society board of directors, Copper Hill Animal Clinic, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation, according to officials.

Heritage Junction is located at 24101 Newhall Ave. inside the southern portion of
