The most recent addition for the Collaborative is the sharing of a space on Bouquet Canyon Road, where they’re looking to invite more veterans as a space to gather, hang out and, if interested, check out community resources available.

The Collaborative also has a big event planned for Veterans Day, which was discussed at the group’s monthly meeting.

“We will be honoring 10 Purple Heart recipients, a local World War II veteran and a special guest speaker — a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient,” said Elliott Wolfe, one of the co-founders of the Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Services Collaborative.

From 3-5 p.m., attendees can peruse and enjoy the Ronald Reagan Library, which is hosting the event, from 5-6:30 p.m., a reception will allow guests to mingle as well as check out Air Force One, and the dinner will formally begin at 6:30 p.m.

“It’s a special celebration honoring veterans and any proceeds will go to covering the expenses of the Boy Scout programs and the Veterans Services Center, he said.

The Santa Clarita Valley’s community center at 26111 Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus, which is provided by Los Angeles County, shares space with the Veterans Services Collaborative.

In addition to free services and therapies available, the Collaborative also tries to share information about free resources for veterans.

To that end, the Collaborative is looking to set up a dedicated line for communications, in addition to looking into the potential for leadership positions within the nonprofit group.

“I’m excited about this opportunity, and we’re hoping to bring quite a few scouts, scouting families and community members to this event,” said Ransom Boynton, District Director for the Antelope and Santa Clarita valley districts, “not only so we can make sure we can raise awareness for the resources but also so that we can support the resources, as well.”

Anyone who would like information about or tickets for the event can contact the Santa Clarita Boy Scouts of America chapter at 661-284-6330.
