Max Morgan and Jim Hackett will be among the many veterans and officials present in Paris this weekend to remember the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
On Nov. 11, 1918, a cease-fire was called for World War I, marking the end of a conflict that had killed roughly 14 million people.
Morgan is a former Navy SEAL, enlisting in the United States Navy on Oct. 31, 1966. His father, George Hopping, had served as an infantry platoon Sergeant during World War II. Morgan graduated from his Navy Special Forces Corpsman Training at the top of his class, being the only one chosen to become a Navy SEAL.
Hackett is a Vietnam War veteran who enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in the spring of 1967. He received two Purple Hearts during the course of his service.
Both Morgan and Hackett will be sharing their stories and photos from the event exclusively with KHTS in the coming week.
The Santa Clarita veterans joined the United States delegation, which included Chief of Staff John Kelly and Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr., chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. President Trump did not to attend due to the weather.
In addition, KHTS will be posting a list of all the Santa Clarita veterans tomorrow for Veterans Day. If you would like to be part of this list, or know someone who you would like to have on this list, please email us at newstip@hometownstation.com
KHTS has also recently launched our new series, “Hometown Heroes – Our Veterans,” written by our new Director of Veterans Affairs Bill Reynolds.
