Christian Nsubuga, 15, an incoming junior, was a member of the Saugus High School JV football team, according to Principal Vince Ferry.

“I am very sad to announce the death of a Saugus High School student, Christian Nsubuga,” said Ferry in a statement. “Obviously, this information can be very difficult for students… Grief counselors will be in place to help students during this difficult time.”

Any students in need of additional help or assistance are encouraged to let school administrators know, added Ferry.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a body discovered shortly after 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

Soon after deputies arrived at the scene, the call was then transferred to Homicide Bureau, according to officials at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The cause of death is still under investigation, according to Coroner’s Office officials.

The memorial for Nsubuga has not been set as of Thursday, Ferry said.

  1. This is absolutely heartbreaking. I hurt for his parents, and his family. Such a tragedy, someone so very young.

  2. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. May Christian rest in peace. Amen.

  3. I wonder if it was caused by football stress or hits etc ?

  4. Bobby, really? For one thing if you notice, after the Sheriff Deputy’s got there, they transferred the call to HOMICIDE, not the football police.

  5. What is the update as to how this poor boy died?
