Thousands of Santa Clarita residents gathered at the 29th annual Saugus Boutique Fantastique over the weekend, where over 100 vendors were out selling their various arts and crafts items.

“We have a lot of items that can be personalized,” said Boutique Chair Lisa Lin. “We also have a lot of unique items that are hand-made, along with the products that people love.”

The gym was packed with different booths selling one-of-a-kind items, including custom wreaths, leather goods and scented candles.

“We have everything from something for you to eat to something for your dog to wear, and everything in between,” Lin said.

The event was hosted by the Saugus High Parent Teacher Student Organization, and the proceeds earned from the boutique are set to go towards their Senior Scholarship Program.

“Last year we were able to give away $16,000 in scholarships,” Lin said. “They have to have a 2.0 GPA or above, and they fill out the scholarship form and we award anywhere from $1,000 to $250.”

On top of the money raised for the scholarship fund, Lin also said that the organization uses the event to help raise money for student supplies.

“We also raise money to buy school supplies for those kids who don’t necessarily have the means to get all the supplies they need,” Lin said. “So we also support those students.”

The Saugus Boutique Fantastique has been a staple in the community since its inception in 1989.

“I always look forward to seeing who the new vendors are, because it keeps it fresh,” said Kelly Demory, a Saugus resident who has attended the boutiques since 2009. “I know there are some people there who are tried and true, and I love that, but I also really like the variety.”
