The SCV Pregnancy Center is hosting a number of events on #GivingTuesday, the nationally recognized day for charities and nonprofits to hold fundraisers and events benefitting their organization.

On #GivingTuesday, Nov. 28, the SCV Pregnancy Center plans to host four Facebook Live events in hopes of publicizing the work being done by the charity, and how people can donate to their cause.

“We’re holding four Facebook events at different times on Tuesday, and we have an anonymous donor who will match every dollar given to us by the end of Tuesday,” said Brendie Heter, community relations director for the SCV Pregnancy Center. “It’s kind of groundbreaking, but basically if someone on Tuesday donates say $50, then the anonymous donor will match their donation.”

Beginning at 9 a.m., those who tune in to the SCV Pregnancy Center’s broadcasts will see the Center staff discuss their goals for soliciting donations. The second broadcast at 11 a.m. is scheduled to take place at the future site the Center plans to move into. At 4:10 p.m., a Facebook Live broadcast will be simultaneously filmed as the SCV Pregnancy Center staff and an actual client of theirs do a live on-air interview with KHTS.

However, the grand finale at 7 p.m. is what the SCV Pregnancy Center staff say they’re most excited about.

“For our last event of the day and people’s last chance to donate with the anonymous donor matching every dollar given, we will be using Facebook Live to broadcast an ultrasound in real-time,” said Heter.

The SCV Pregnancy Center is doing the campaign and Facebook Live push because the Center is hoping to move into their new location debt-free, according to officials.

“We have been honored to serve Santa Clarita Valley residents for over 30 years. This move eliminates $60-70,000 of expenses annually, allowing more resources to be dedicated to client services,” concluded Heter.

The Facebook Live Broadcasts for #GivingTuesday will be viewable at the SCV Pregnancy Center’s Facebook page.
