“March is a great month to start thinking about preparing your landscape so it will blossom,” SCV Water officials said in a statement.

During the first class on March 8, residents will be taught what the top 30 plants for the Santa Clarita Valley are by John Windsor, a certified arborist and a California certified nurseryman.

“Participants will leave with a full-color plant guide and (hopefully) a few new favorite plants,” officials said. “If you’re looking to start a new landscaping project, let us help you create a landscape plan and budget.”

The second class, which is scheduled for March 10, is designed to be a follow-up to Saturday’s class, teaching residents now how to afford the garden they wish to grow.

“If you’re looking to start a new landscaping project, let us help you create a landscape plan and budget,” said a news release. “Learn how to create your own landscape design and develop a working budget for your project, including plants, hardscape and labor.”

Tim Wheeler, an expert in the Green Industry with a background in horticulture science and park administration, will also ensure that Saturday’s participants leave with a guide and checklist to help them develop their own landscape budget, according to officials.

Windsor’s class is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 8 class from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Wheelers class is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. through 12 p.m.

All classes are scheduled to take place at SCV Water, which is located at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
