Brittney Sue Humphrey, 22, and Joshua Robertson, 27, are accused of shooting and killing Kimberly Harvill, Humphrey’s step-sister, and kidnapping her three children, ages 5, 3 and 2, in August 2016.

Alex Richard Valdez, 29, was arrested in March of this year on suspicion of connection to the case, according to Detective Scott Matlock of the county’s Homicide Bureau.

Detectives declined to divulge Valdez’ suspected involvement when reached for comment. While prosecutors have alleged that Robertson pulled the trigger, all three are being charged with murder and kidnapping.

Harvill’s body was found on a secluded road in Lebec with a gunshot wound to the head on Aug. 14, 2016. After her body was found, the investigation led police to Humphrey and Robertson who they believed Harvill was living with at the time.

Humphrey is being held at Century Regional Detention Facility for $3 million bail. Robertson is being held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility for $3.08 million.

The trio’s next court date is July 18 for a continuation of their preliminary setting.
