The Valencia Boutique started in 2017 when Susan Griffith, who had helped run the Saugus Boutique Fantastique for several years, came over to Valencia High with the idea to do a similar event.

“It’s just a great way to raise money for the school,” Griffith said

During the first year, the event originally benefited the Valencia High School softball team, raising over $7,000, according to Griffith.

This year, the Valencia Boutique is set to benefit the VHS Foundation, which works to bring together parents, administrators, teachers, students and community members to continue providing “world class education for all Valencia High School students,” according to their website.

“Our idea is that we are going to meet our goals and help the kids with what they need,” said John Costanzo, former principal of Valencia High and current president of the VHS Foundation.

Costanzo said that the decision was made to switch the benefits to the foundation in an effort to benefit all of the students at the school. However, the softball team will still have a presence at the boutique.

“Softball will still be doing some things, such as refreshments and a silent auction,” Costanzo said.

The event is set to feature over 80 vendors, selling items ranging from clothing to key chains, as well as many custom and seasonal arts-and-crafts items.

“We have such unique vendors,” Griffith said. “People can come out to find the most unique things.”

The Valencia Boutique is scheduled to take place in the Valencia High School gym on Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It’s a great event where the community can come in and find items of true value to them,” Costanzo said. “It’s a great way to help the school, and at the same time, I have no doubt that you will find something you like and walk away with a purchase you are proud of.”
