Victim Of Structure Fire In Castaic ID’d By Coroner, Investigators Rule Out Arson

The victim who died in a structure fire at a Castaic mobile home park Wednesday has been identified by medical examiners, and investigators have concluded the fire was not started with intent, authorities said.

Jeanne Miller, 63, of Castaic, was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department as the individual who died in the blaze at the Hasley Canyon Mobile Estates on Jan. 3.

First responders began treating the Castaic structure fire as a potential crime scene, but investigators with LASD have since ruled out the possibility of arson.

“We’ve ruled out arson,” said Det. Yelick, LASD.

The fatal blaze was reported at 2:48 p.m. near the 30000 block of Hasley Canyon Road, according to Randall Wright, inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Miller, who was inside the home during the fire, was pronounced dead on scene, said Gustavo Medina, inspector with the LACoFD.
