IHOP announced Monday morning that the International House of Pancakes will temporarily become the International House of Burgers, ending a week of social media speculation and igniting an online firestorm of comments.

IHOP started a social media storm last week when they cryptically announced that they would be flipping the “p” at the end of their name to a “b”. This led to a large amount of speculation regarding what the “b” stood for.
While some were able to correctly guess that the letter stood for burgers, other guesses ranged from breakfast to bitcoin.

To be clear, IHOP is not permanently changing the company’s name to IHOb. In fact, most of their nearly 1,800 locations will still go by IHOP. However, some locations are going so far as to change their signs for the marketing campaign.

“We are definitely going to be IHOP,” Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP, told CNNMoney. “But we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes.”
The restaurant chain is also adding several burgers to its menu to coincide with the marketing campaign, including a Big Brunch burger with bacon, a fried egg and browned potato on top.
