These free concerts are a great way to spend summer nights with family and friends. Along with the great entertainment in this family-friendly environment, there will be food available for purchase.
The Concerts in the Park is a tradition run by the City of Santa Clarita’s Arts and Events Office with the support of sponsors. Some of the sponsors include KHTS AM 1220, Sunpower by Green Convergence and Snow Orthodontics.
To start out the series of concerts on July 12 is the band DSB, America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey. DSB has been highly revered by fans as the “next best thing” to Journey.
They have captured the lush, signature sound of renowned vocalist Steve Perry and Journey in their prime. Complete with a band of world-class musicians, DSB remains true to Journey’s musical legacy and delivers the nostalgic concert experience that will keep you “Believin'”.
Then on July 19, Suzanne Harper will take the stage. She is an award-winning country singer/songwriter.
In January, she enjoyed great success in Nashville where she competed as one of five finalists in the Texaco Country Showdown, taking second place out of more than 25,000 competitors nationwide.
Also on July 19, the three winners of the preliminary rounds from the Country Showdown competition will perform to compete to be the local KHTS AM 1220 winner.
From there, one winner will go to the state finals at Knott’s Berry Farm with a chance to move onto Regional and National competition to become this year’s champion with a $100,000 prize and recording contract.
Led Zepagain will be performing on July 26, then Hotel California “A Salute to the Eagles” on August 2. On August 9, Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries will play, and Poncho Sanchez on August 16. Plying next is Hollywood U2 on August 23 and finishing the concerts is Boogie Knights on August 30.
Be sure to bring a blanket, food, and beverage, but no alcohol, as this is a family friendly area. For more information, check out: http://arts.santa-clarita.com/events/concerts-in-the-park/.
