A local Regional Occupational Program student has been
chosen to cook in a national food competition.
Ava Bardsley, a senior at Hart High School,
is one of only 20 students across the U.S invited to participate in the 20th
annual Johnson and Wales University High School Chef of the Year
More than 800 students applied for the spot, but it was
Bardsley’s award-winning recipe that gained her a position in the
The winner will receive a full scholarship to Johnson and Wales University.
Bardsley will compete in the dinner and desert category and
will go up against 20 other juniors and seniors.
The Johnson and Wales University High School Chef of the
Year competition will be held in Miami,
Florida April 3-5, and will also
be shown on the Food Network Channel.
